Pyridinium porphyrins and AuNPs mediated bionetworks as SPR signal amplification tags for the ultrasensitive assay of brain natriuretic peptide.

Recent work at Shanghai University by the Chen group was published in Microchimica Acta reporting a surface plasmon resonance biosensor for the determination of brain natriuretic peptide. Detection was accomplished by binding of the peptide to an amine functionalized aptamer probe. Pyridinium porphyrin-mediated Au nanoparticle composites were used to amplify the SPR signal. Thanks for […]

Topical photodynamic therapy of tumor bearing mice with meso-tetrakis (N-methyl-4-pyridyl) porphyrin loaded in ethosomes.

Recent work from the Farag group at the Cairo University, Giza, Egypt was published in Journal of Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy reassuring the usage of Meso-tetrakis(N-methyl-4-pyridyl)porphyrin (TMPyP) as photosensitizing agent by loading in ethosomes. TMPyP (a photosensitizer) was considered for the topical treatment of subcutaneous tumors. The hydrophilicity of TMPyP hampers its skin penetration. TMPyP was formulated in nanovesicles called ethosomes to overcome the skin barrier and allow for its transdermal delivery.  Thanks for using our Meso-tetrakis(N-methyl-4-pyridyl)porphyrin (TMPyP), T40125.

Structure of a Zinc Porphyrin-Substituted Bacterioferritin and Photophysical Properties of Iron Reduction

Recent work from the Kurtz group at University of Texas was published in Biochemistry journal, presenting X-ray crystal structure of ZnPP-Bfr as well as the photophysical properties of the iron-loaded ZnPP-Bfr to better understand the process of photosensitized reductive iron release. The crystal structure of ZnPP-Bfr shows a unique six-coordinate zinc in the ZnPP with two axial methionine sulfur ligands.  Thanks for using our Protoporphyrin IX, (P562-9).

Water-Soluble Nitroxyl Porphyrin Complexes FeIITPPSHNO and FeIITPPSNO− Obtained from Isolated FeIITPPSNO•

Recent work from the Doctorovich group at the University of Buenos Aires published in JACS identified the first biomimetic water-soluble FeII-porphyrin nitroxyl complexes. A pKa was calculated for the complex and reaction kinetics measured. DFT calculations implied the formation of a phlorin radical intermediate for the investigated reaction. Thanks for using our meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine, T40699.
