Recent work from the Doctorovich group at the University of Buenos Aires published in JACS identified the first biomimetic water-soluble FeII-porphyrin nitroxyl complexes. A pKa was calculated for the complex and reaction kinetics measured. DFT calculations implied the formation of a phlorin radical intermediate for the investigated reaction.
