Field of Interest: Photodynamic Therapy, Photosynthesis and Chlorophyll degradation product, Photosensitizer, Photopolymerization

Background: Pyropheophorbide-a is a natural chlorin specialty chemical manufactured by Frontier Specialty Chemicals. Pyropheophorbide-a is commonly used for the synthesis of photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy.1,2 A recent review was published on the bio activities of pyropheophorbide-a.3 The photophysical properties of pyropheophorbide-a have been reported.4 Pyropheophorbide a was found to be an effective visible light photosensitizer for  initiating free-radical photo polymerization.5 Peptide-Pyropheophorbide-a conjugates with tumor specific peptide ligands had been reported.6
