Pyrroles

Pyrroles are 5 membered heterocyclic aromatic compounds with a ring nitrogen atom. They are found in nature as cofactors, in vitamin B12, bile pigments bilirubin and biliverdin, and the porphyrins heme, chlorophyll, chlorins, bacteriochlorins, and porphyrinogens. Excreted products have been implicated as diagnostic in neurological diseases.
