Pyrimidines
Pyridine is a 6 membered heteroaromatic nitrogen compound with two nitrogens separated by a carbon atom and is in the diazine family of heterocycles. The structure is widely found in nature, in nucleotides, in nucleic acids nucleobases are pyrimidine derivatives, cytosine (C), thymine (T), and uracil (U). They are also found in metabolic products related to alloxan. In synthesis they are versatile reagents and are found in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
