Oximes

Hydroxylamines are prepared by the reaction of aldehydes, ketones, or quinones and hydroxylamine or alkoxylamines, and are used as chelation agents or sequestration reagents for metal binding and trapping. In medicine they are active in nerve agent poisoning, reactivating acetylcholinesterase, and as antibacterial agents as peptide deformylase inhibitors, among other activities.
