Cinnamates are esters of cinnamic acid and are found in nature as flavorings and precursors to flavonoids and other natural products. Possessing an alpha-beta.unsaturated ketone, they are natural Michael acceptors in chemistry and addends to numerous semisynthetic compounds and some used in medicine as fine chemicals.
